Chengdu is called “the capital of Western China” and is a centre of finance, communication and commerce. Its development is a focus-point in the Chinese Government latest five-year plan. The city is named as one of the five pilot reform cities where decisions regarding economics and politics can be taken locally, rather than in Beijing.
The Municipality of Horsens and Business Horsens have opened a representative office in Chengdu in March 2013. This was done on the basis of “sister cities twinning” process of Horsens and Chengdu, that started in June 2012.
“With the opening of a representative office in Chengdu, we want to give local companies a head start to enter the market. It would offer assistance in establishing, conducting market research, creating partnership and networking contacts with development parks in Western China. The representation has the potential to evolve into a gateway to the whole region.” says Horsens Mayor Peter Sørensen.
